Basel Singt

This project brought together seven classes from several primary schools in Basel. The students formed a choir of about 150 elements, and sung a program which was formed by folk songs of diverse origin, sung in the original languages. The choir was accompanied by a chamber orchestra formed by students and Professors of the Hochschule für Music Basel FHNW. This project has been financed by the department for the education of the city of Basel. The concert, held on April 1st, 2017, has been directed by Beat Hofstetter. I wrote five of the pieces that were played, interpreting, with some freedom, pre-existing melodic materials.
