Maximiliano Amici takes the I Ching as the starting point for 35 musical miniatures for violin, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and percussion. Broken and unbroken lines become musical gestures, colours and characters, creating a chamber cycle shaped by change, stillness, tension and return.
The first eight pieces introduce the cycle’s fundamental materials through doubled trigrams. Subsequent hexagrams combine and transform them, inviting listeners to follow recurring ideas through constantly changing instrumental relationships. The title connects the image of flowing water in Confucius’ Analects with the final line of Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus.
